Despite all the good intentions behind my new years resolution to post more regularly here, it would seem that I've all but dropped the ball in that arena. However, I do have what I think is an acceptable - and exciting - excuse. Back in early December I found a job listing on Idealist for a "Nepal Based Correspondent" with an NGO called Next Generation Nepal. Given that it was essentially the exact same job that I had been doing in Nepal last summer, and the fact that I was, at the time, applying to anything and everything in sight, I submitted an application for it, having no idea what to expect. After a couple interviews and meetings I was offered the position on January 5th which instantly threw my everyday hum drum existence into a bit of an uproar. The turnaround for departure is quite quick and I'm slated to fly on January 25th for a 5 month stint in Nepal - I'll be returning on June 20th.
During my stay I'll be traveling and working for the NGN in-country staff photographing and writing about their organization and work. My main responsibility will be developing images and stories for the organizations monthly newsletter. I'm thrilled to be returning to Nepal and to have the continued opportunity to develop myself as a photojournalist.
Needless to say I've been crazy busy ever since the 5th trying to pull everything together for the rather rapid departure and have been unable to post. However, I'm anticipating that posting will resume at more regular intervals - perhaps not this week, but definitely once I get to Nepal and can start fueling the blog with regular travel content again.
Two last pieces of exciting news; first, I'm in the process of getting my website up and running and will hopefully be able to announce that before I leave. Second is that The Coalition Against Hunger will be launching their new website at the beginning of February and it will feature some of the work that I did for them in December and January. Stay posted for those things and more news on my travels.
